The Aftermath: Post Executive Fight Night II

It’s finally over! For three months I was able to do something most desk jockeys only dreamed of; get a taste of the life of a full time athlete and train for Executive Fight Night 2.

The training schedule was rigorous and demanding but I loved it. I lost 7 kilos, packed on a bunch of muscle and gained a whole new outlook on what I can do when I set my mind to it.

I won my fight. I was able to have my arm raised in victory over a very tough opponent.

As satisfying as it was in that moment, the bigger win for all of us fighters is we’ve proven to everyone and ourselves that we can stick to a hard regiment of blood, sweat and tears and come out prepared to fight on the big night.

Your first fight is like getting your first tattoo; you think you will only do one but you find yourself craving for more!

That said, the training schedule was a distraction at my current job as General Manager of Real Estate Japan. My colleagues were outstanding in stepping up to handle the extra work load but any aspirations of turning this hobby into a full time career would find me shadow boxing in the unemployment line.

So while I contemplate my future in the amateur ring one thing is certain; this experience was a once in a lifetime experience that I will be eternally grateful for.

The journey isn’t without peril but your fear isn’t your opponent’s fist so much as it is learning whether you have the willpower to do what it takes. Do you have what it takes to go through the training to make it to the show?
