Luxury living in Tokyo for 50,000 yen

April 14th, 2011By Category: Uncategorized

Something the foreign media falsely portrayed during the recent earthquake were scenes of mass panic, destruction and abandoned streets in Tokyo. Of course, all this was false. Tokyo was relatively untouched throughout everything that happened and its buildings withstood the aftershocks without issue.

Social Apartments, a series of properties we have featured before, is reporting that people are already seeking out new places to stay – the job market is picking up again, summer visitors are coming into the city and people are looking for more things where they live.

Their properties, which are located in four different areas of Tokyo are all new reinforced concrete and survived the earthquake without a scratch. They combine a touch of luxury with good access to train stations and most importantly a strong sense of community.

As each property is a luxury guest-house, residents have their own private furnished room and then share common spaces such as a fully-fitted out kitchen, lounge space with internet, TV, games, pool tables and more. This helps build a stronger sense of community with the other people that you are living with and everyone helps each other through any adversity. No living on your own when an earthquake happens.

All this comes at monthly rent of around ¥50,000.

Social Apartments is proof that you do not need to save on comforts while living on a budget in Tokyo.

This is their latest complex. Located in Tamadaira, close to Toyoda station on JR’s main central Chuo line. That puts it close enough to central Tokyo for you to easily commute in but far enough away to enjoy a bit of a countryside atmosphere with open spaces and more community feel.

Living costs in the area are cheaper than in the center of Tokyo and if you consider that monthly rent is around ¥50,000 and Social Apartments is currently offering a “no key money” campaign, this is a really good way to live well while saving money.

As the newest building that has just been refitted, everything is brand new.

Another Social Apartments location, Eda, Yokohama.

Just opened here is a new play lounge. This gives you access to 100-inch projector for cinema-style viewing, pool table, dartboards.

The real scene-stealer here is the “hinoki” wooded deck that boasts a traditional-style bath. The apartment itself overlooks Yokohama and as summer comes, it will be a nice place to relax to the sounds of the countryside.

In between Yokohama and Tokyo is Shin-Kawasaki.

With only 19 rooms, this Social Apartment building gives a much more personal atmosphere and as you see from the pictures, looks much more like a private apartment that you might be expecting.

Of course, even living in a shared building, people need privacy and security and Social Apartments include plenty of both. Locks and security features are all modern and your room comes furnished with all of the basic things you will need.  Find out more about `Social Apartment Shin-Kawasaki` by clicking here.

The last Social Apartment we are featuring here is in Ichikawa, Chiba.

This gives you a good idea of why shared luxury guest houses like this are popular. Unlike living in a cramped apartment and having to pay for everything you access, places like Social Apartments come with their own bar and beer server, karaoke room and for some more spiritual entertainment, fitness room for yoga and a beauty salon for female residents.

As you can see in all the above pics, Social Apartments give you plenty of choice in terms of location, but are all incredibly well priced. For that low rent, you get plenty of luxuries, smart building designs and a stronger sense of community.
