My memories of the March 11 disaster

February 14th, 2012By Category: Uncategorized

The day that changed my life. I’ll try to keep it short so that more people can read it.

I had spent the last 10 years of my life in a beautiful city called Koriyama in Fukushima, Japan. At the time that the earthquake happened, running for cover wasn’t an option.

With earthquakes that strong, crouching down seemed the only thing you could do. I was stuck in my car listening to the road crack around me. I’m not sure how long it actually was, you might like to look it up, but it felt very… long.

It stopped and started, coughed and spluttered and got worse and worse. Snow and a gale like wind started halfway through the earthquake and as unusual as this might sound, I started to feel like a god was attacking us….and that was just the start of so many more things to come.

Late last year I moved to Kyushu. I’m looking forward to getting back on track.
