TV commercial of the week: Love is KAT-TUN

February 6th, 2012By Category: Arts & Entertainment

Here is the TV commercial for the animation “Ai ha KAT-TUN” (Love is KAT-TUN), which is distributed on the mobile social gaming platform entag!

The story revolves around a girl who lives in the same house with the five male members of the popular boys’ band KAT-TUN. The five KAT-TUN members are voice actors.

Some responses in English to the video include: “NEED THIS.” “I MUST HAVE THIS!” “Make it for America too! D; subbed, not dubbed.” “My sister will die… OH Koki-san :D” (Koki is a KAT-TUN member), “omg!~~HOT AS HELL!! LUV THIS ANIME VERSION OF THEM!!! HEHEHEHEHEH~~”, “so cute~ so cool~ >///< I like that!!!!”, and so on.

Judging from these responses, KAT-TUN is very popular not only with Japanese girls but also foreign girls too.

KAT-TUN is managed by Johnny’s Jimusho which also manages SMAP, TOKIO, V6, and other all-male groups.

The name KAT-TUN comes from putting together the initials of each member’s family name (KA is from Kazuya Kamenashi, T is from Junnosuke Taguchi, another T is from Koki Tanaka, U is from Tatsuya Ueda, and N is from Yuichi Nakamaru. A from KAT-TUN used to be from Jin Akanishi, but he left the group in 2010, so it changed.) KAT-TUN can be read “Katsu-un” in Japanese which means winning fortune.
