On March 10, 2011 Sachiko Takao set out on an epic bicycle adventure to experience the wonderful foods that are available in Japan. While working internationally in the US and the UK, Sachi struggled to answer a common question she received from her friends and co-workers which was, what do you eat in Japan?
Realizing that there is more to Japanese cuisine than sushi and miso soup Sachi set out to sample the many delicious regional foods that are available in Japan and to share them with the world on her website. Not wanting to end the trip the size of a sumo wrestler she decided the best way to work off those extra calories would be to bicycle the 2200 km across Japan from southern island of Okinawa to the northern tip of Hokkaido. Along the way she sampled many delicious foods, photographed the amazing scenery and met many friendly and curious people and learned what am amazing country Japan is.
We are also joined by Byron Kidd who runs a website dedicated to cycling in Tokyo. Byron is here to talk about what makes Tokyo a great cycling city despite the chaotic disregard for the law.
