“Gal” makeup: Become a kawaii (cute) Japanese girl!



“Gal’ is the Japanese word used to describe the look of young girls in Shibuya and Harajuku. Emphasizing the eyes is a characteristic of gal make-up. For example, curling eyelashes make the eyes look much bigger. Tying hair to the back of the head makes the face look smaller.

Jan 29: Sumo wrestler Futeno retirement ceremony at Ryogoku



Futeno wrestled for more than eight years, attaining the 4th-highest rank of komusubi. But he is perhaps better known for being a pioneer sumo wrestler blogger since 2005, posting many interesting things about the traditional sport. To commemorate his retirement last year, there will be a big event at the Ryogoku Kokugikan sumo arena. This event will offer you very special opportunity to see Futeno’s retirement ceremony and also observe traditional sumo rites.
For example:
Sumo-juku — a traditional song from the Edo period, which 5-7 wrestlers will perform.
Shokkiri — a performance the wrestlers do for spectators in a humorous way.
Kami-yui show — a demonstration of sumo hairdressing.
