“Gal” makeup: Become a kawaii (cute) Japanese girl!

“Gal’ is the Japanese word used to describe the look of young girls in Shibuya and Harajuku. Emphasizing the eyes is a characteristic of gal make-up. For example, curling eyelashes make the eyes look much bigger. Tying hair to the back of the head makes the face look smaller.

FindJPN, an activity booking service website, offers you the chance to get made up as a gal. A professional photographer will take pictures of you as an option extra.

The video below shows more detail about the activity.

One thing to note: Please DO NOT apply if you have sensitive skin or any eye ailment.

Cost: 9,600 yen.

Jan 29: Sumo wrestler Futeno retirement ceremony at Ryogoku

Futeno wrestled for more than eight years, attaining the 4th-highest rank of komusubi. But he is perhaps better known for being a pioneer sumo wrestler blogger since 2005, posting many interesting things about the traditional sport. To commemorate his retirement last year, there will be a big event at the Ryogoku Kokugikan sumo arena. This event will offer you very special opportunity to see Futeno’s retirement ceremony and also observe traditional sumo rites.

For example:

Sumo-juku — a traditional song from the Edo period, which 5-7 wrestlers will perform.

Shokkiri — a performance the wrestlers do for spectators in a humorous way.

Kami-yui show — a demonstration of sumo hairdressing.

Makuuchi, Juryo division bouts

Date & Time: Jan 29 (Sun.) 11:00~

Cost: 4,500 yen.
