Aichi Dobby Ltd is selling a pot that lets you cook without using water. The Vermicular pot has surprised many people and has been picked up by a lot of media recently. It cooks well without extracting the taste of the ingredients.

According to Tomoharu Hijikata, the senior managing director of the company, consumers are happy about cooking without water. “It is particularly good for vegetables,” he said. “I heard from people who have used French casting pots, saying that they were surprised at the huge difference between them and the Vermicular.”

 How does the pot cook?

The lid makes the pot airtight, sealing in natural moisture that steams from the food, allowing it to retain its natural flavor, vitamins and minerals. Nutritional experts say that most of the nutritional value of vegetables is poured out with the cooking water. Using this pot, the result is a deep rich taste and flavor without using any salt, pepper or other additives. For example, when you make minestrone soup, you only need to put the vegetables into the pot and stew them over heat for a hour.
