The Softbank store on Omotesando saw plenty of people in line this morning, most of whom had been there overnight too. This has turned out to be one of the few locations in Tokyo that will have a small amount of extra iPad stock for people without a reservation and accordingly it attracted more folks. Getting hold of one cost them a night’s sleep, however. GaijinPot writer Steve Nagata was there and caught plenty of the action from yesterday, through the night and into this morning.

While the crowds were waiting, the Softbank store was completely hidden by large blue coverings. Inside the store, staff were rushing to prep for the huge rush of people expected in the morning.

The ultimate prize.

Big media coverage in Japan for the launch with plenty of the morning TV shows covering the iPad – a lot more than they have for any other product release for some time.

And it’s go!

Already available in Bic Camera stores are the various iPad accessories.

Thanks to Steve for sharing the pics, more available over at his photostream.
