Saturday afternoon at Shibuya Crossing, Tokyo

If you have been in Tokyo for any length of time, you will probably have been to Shibuya and seen the famous Scramble crossing. It can get pretty crazy on weekends with thousands of people going back and forth.

This video shows a scene at the crossing on a Saturday.

Foreign people who watched the video wrote comments such as “It’s like a large crowd of ants,” “There are more than 9,000 people,” “If somebody falls down, what will happen in the large crowd?” “I feel like I’m going to have claustrophobia while watching the video,” “There are only black and white, aren’t there any colors in Japan?” “No one can find Wally there,” “I’ve got to go to Tokyo.” Many viewers seemed surprised at such a scene.

Of course, it’s not just Shibuya. There are many other places in Tokyo just as crowed during peak times, such as Shinjuku, Tokyo Station, Shimbashi, Shinagawa, as well as business office areas.

It’s not only difficult to walk freely but also to get on a train too at some stations.

Here is an example of a crowded train in Japan.
