Jobs unique to Japan – Yamesaseya

Whatever the field of business, one can usually find some staff who simply aren’t earning their pay. And others may not be good team players who stir up morale problems at the office.

To deal with these individuals, a new occupation called “yamesaseya” has appeared in Japan’s corporate world. These are specialists who apply various forms of trickery to coerce unwanted full-time staff to submit their resignations.

Ordinarily in Japan, it’s almost impossible to dismiss regular company staff who have not committed some serious infraction of company work rules. So that’s where yamesaseya comes in.

How does it work? One example is of a worker who consistently failed to boost his sales results. A tail was put on him for one week, and the operatives found that practically every day during working hours he went for a soak after lunch in a public bath followed later in the evening by a visit to a “massage” shop.

After gaining their evidence the “yamesaseya” submit photos of their target’s various transgressions to employers, after that the result is inevitable – dismissal.

Another example is of “yamesaseya” being hired by a group of five female employees at a company, who pooled their money to get rid of one of their bosses. The alleged offender, the head of the company’s personnel division, was not only a serial sexual harasser; he also arranged to hire only the types of women he found personally attractive.

Yamesaseya company staff are a diverse bunch, the second example includes two femme fatales on the payroll, one in her late 20s who formerly worked as a cabaret club hostess, and a divorcee in her 40s.

Another successful case, involved offering a target a new job paying 1.5 times more than their current wages. The target promptly submitted their resignation—- only to find that the new position that awaited them never existed. Working in a Japanese company? Sometimes best to watch your back…

    Kind of sad how employees have to sink so low as to get an outsider to resolve the problems inside the company like these girls having to put their money together to kick out some horny boss who can't keep his hands to himself. If it were Australia all we have to do is put in a sexual complain and if the company sees that it's more than one (it will start doing it's own inverstigation). Well this is Japan so a woman's word is worthless in the world of the men dominating society. Which is real sad as most these man are not real man but cowards who are just power hungry machism idiots who would not know how to treat a lady if their life depended on it. No wonder there is so much crap here like sexual harrasment, high school girls sex, horny deprived business men going out with hosts, men reading porn magazines at combinis lol. Japan might be technologically more advanced than most countries but what they lack is communication skills.

    I cant see how this can be legal, but then again TIJ (this is japan).
    In stead of wasting this kind of money to get rid of lazy staff maybe these companies could do something about the corrupt politicians who are always buying little girls for sex or better yet lets give all teachers who have been caught paying little girls for sex a big red mark so they cannot teach again rather than being moved to a new school (very catholic of the education boards).
