Singer Kumi Koda, 29, surprised media on Tuesday by announcing her upcoming marriage to KENJI03, the 27-year-old lead vocalist and rhythm guitar player for the rock band BACK-ON.

Koda sent a fax to media outlets, saying they would register their marriage at the ward office before the end of the year. She later posted the news on her website.

Koda said that she isn’t pregnant, and that she will continue her work.

Koda said she and KENJI03 started dating after they worked together on her album “4 TIMES” last summer. “I was really attracted to him and his music. I think I fell in love first. When I am with him, I can be myself and cannot stop smiling. There are too many things that I want to talk about, so I have to stop. Anyway, he is an amazing person who accepts me as I am.”

KENJI03 said on his website that he and Koda hope to become the coolest couple in the universe.
