These two photos show a world of difference between two eras in Japan – the Taisho era (July 30, 1912-December 25, 1926) and the Heisei era (January 8, 1989-Current). In the Taisho era photo, taken in front of an unidentified shrine, everyone has the same hairstyle (unheard of today), and naturally, the girls are showing less skin than we would see today.
In the Heisei era photo, taken at a temple in Kyoto, we see members of the popular all-girl idol group SKE48. They have different hairstyles and wear short skirts.
One wonders what young girls of the Taisho era would say if they could have looked ahead to see the fashions of SKE48.

I quite like the fact that the Taisho girls have bouffants that put contemporary hostesses to shame.
everyone has the same fricken haircut nowadays. Have you not being outside lately?
You’re acting too cool for yourself.
