How to make Bacon & Cheese Potato Buns (なんちゃってベークドポテトパン)

July 13th, 2012By Category: Arts & Entertainment, Food & Dining

How many of you are excited about the London Olympics coming up? I am!

I love watching the Olympics games, because watching the athletes perform always really do inspire me! Every summer for the past few years, I have spent my summer in Europe/UK, but this year, since I already made my visit in early May, I will not be going to London this summer, which makes me sad, so I wanted to come up with a recipe that is based on a Japanese bread recipe by also incorporating something of the UK culture, so I decided to simply add mashed potatoes in the bread dough. LOL

The result of my recipe looks like these:

They really look like the real baked potatoes! and thought this recipe is fun to share for summer BBQ party that I am pretty sure many of you will attend.

Please check my YouTube Video to learn how to make these buns.

The actual recipe is here.

The best way to eat it is to split the bun into half, and have a bite on the bacon/melt cheese part! and reach the heaven for a minute and then enjoy the chewy dough. Unlike those mayo based buns sold in many shops in Japan, the amount of mayo used for this recipe is very small, so I think even health conscious people can enjoy these tasty buns without feeling any guilty. Enjoy!

P.S. For the next week’s episode, I will be doing some ‘real’ cooking.. please stay tuned the food lovers…
