Japan’s hit products of 2010

Dentsu, Japan’s largest ad agency has just released the results of its 2010 Hit Products survey. They polled people over the internet to find what products folks in Japan got excited about.

Their findings? Smart phones such as the likes of iPhone and Android were the hottest products in Japan for the last 12 months, closely followed by Twitter.

Other items to make the list showed that luxury and leisure are making their way back into people’s lives as the careful Japanese shopper showed the first signs of getting over Japan’s economic difficulties.

The list:

1. Smartphones

2. Twitter

3. Munchable chilli oil

4. Digital broadcasting-equipped widescreen flat-panel TVs

5. Ryoma Sakamoto (a popular historical figure on whom a hit Samurai drama series was based)

6. International flight services at Haneda Airport

7. Tokyo Sky Tree (new broadcasting tower to be completed in 2012)

8. Energy-saving appliances eligible for a rebate scheme

9. 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa

10. LED light bulbs
