The first snow of the year fell last Monday, January 14. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, 7cm of snow fell in Tokyo and Chiba and the temperature in Tokyo last Monday noon was 0.8 degrees. This unusual event mixed in with excitement among children, but then there’s always a downside. In Tokyo, heavy snowfall tend to delayed or canceled many trains.

We flew out of Haneda that day and I was sure the flight was going to be canceled. It was really coming down hard!

I remember when everybody in Tokyo went crazy over a little bit of snow last winter as well, but I’ve never seen THAT much snow in Tokyo! It was quite a surprise!
