The Tokyo Stock Exchange has unveiled its new mascot character ‘‘Arrows-kun’’ to attract more young people and women to stock trading.
Arrows-kun (Arrows boy) is based on TSE Arrows, a TSE facility housing a revolving, ring-shaped electric bulletin board that shows current stock prices. The character is a 10-year-old boy who handles public relations for Japan’s largest bourse under a demanding boss. The facility’s signature bulletin board appears on top of his head.
According to the TSE, the character has already gained a strong fan base and the stock exchange has set up a Twitter account for it (@tse_pr).
The TSE plans to hand out some Arrows-kun goods at orientations for individual investors to be held in Tokyo on March 11-12, in line with a request from a number of Twitter users. The TSE also plans to print the mascot in pamphlets for its financial products.
