Toto’s poop-powered bike draws foreign media attention

October 25th, 2011By Category: Uncategorized

Famous Japanese toilet maker TOTO’s advertisement for its toilet bike is garnering a lot of attention from foreign media which are referring to it as a “poop-powered bike.”

For example, the big news website, Huffington Post mentioned that the “Japanese toilet maker company developed a bike which works by poop. It collects people’s excrement in the seat and converts it to biofuel to power the three-wheel bike.”

Also, foreign online news website Gawker media mentioned that “the seat of this product — a world first — is a toilet and logically speaking, it works by the driver’s poop fuel.”

Popular blogger Perez Hilton says: “It’s impossible to drive the bike by pooping, but I certainly don’t want to sit on the back of the bike! It’s hilarious!”

Other foreign media have mentioned the bike too and most media think that the bike’s fuel is from poop. Gawker media later edited the article content because readers said that the content is different from TOTO’s advertisement. The bike actually runs on biogas from animal dung and household wastewater.

The toilet which is on the bike in the advertisement, “Neorest AH3,” is on sale now. However, the toilet on the bike cannot be used as a toilet. It is just for show.
