Club Copora’s idea is to provide opportunities to connect local Japanese and international residents socially, while keeping the living sphere very private.

How do they do at that? We spoke with some of the residents of their Club Copora facility in Ikebukero:

Interview 1 : Mr.Michael Armstrong

How did you find Social Apartments?

“First I found the Social Apartments site and decided to choose Club Copra Ikebukuro since it has relatively larger size of the rooms in the same price range and I was attracted to the environment which opens for people from various backgrounds.”

What’s your impressions of your share mates?

“They are casual and open-minded people. We come from different countries, but I’m used to flatting with 7 people before in my country so I enjoyed living with the environment with other share mates.”

How do you use the shared living room?

“I use the living room when I have a meal, but also enjoy movies and playing games sometimes there. There’s a large flat TV was installed after I moved in so I feel it is really worthy if you think you have a big living room with this rent price.”

How’s your life changed living in Social Apartments?

“Utility fees are included so I feel it’s relatively cheap compare to renting an apartment alone in Tokyo. The current expense doesn’t make a big difference in terms of living expenses compare to when I used to live in my country. Also I like the casual atmosphere in Club Copora. It’s not like you are forced to live with others, but people here are laid back and you can choose whether you are around with someone or being alone to focus on something.”

Interview 2 : Mr.David Duenzl

How did you find Social Apartments?

“When I changed my career from Australia, I was relocated to Tokyo and my boss show me the site of Social Apartments as accommodation option. They have a bilingual support counter so the moving operation was smooth, and that’s part of the reason I chose. I did not bring my laptop PC from my country so it was helpful that I could access to a common PC at their lounge soon after arrival.”

Any interesting events after moving in?

“First I moved in Ikebukuro, and the residents planned and held a welcome party for me which is still a lovely memory of my stay in Japan. Athough I moved out to another Social Apartment in Omotesando, I enjoy the fireworks in Jingumae and really was impressive too.”

Any comments who consider living in Social Apartments?

“One of my favorite point of living in Ikebukuro is its convenience and many Ramen shop around. I find that Ramen shops here in Japan tastes way better than the one I used to have in my country. Once you pick the place, I think Social Apartments has a great service supporting us in English smoothly. If you are not familiar to the life here, these are good options of your starting your life in Japan.”

Ikebukuro is recognized is a commuting hub, located on an intersection between Saitama and Shinjuku, so the area is well stocked when it comes to nightlife, amenities and delights such as big brand department stores (TOBU,SEIBU,MARUI). Even if you are not a big fan of shopping, the Club Copora is in the quiet residential area away from the noisy station, so you benefit from both convenience and tranquility.
