Video: Kichijōji, Tokyo’s Art Colony

January 22nd, 2010By Category: Uncategorized

Just 20 minutes from Shinjuku on the Chuo (Sobu) line from Shinjuku and sitting in the center of a number of parks and universities, Kichijoji is one of Tokyo’s most desirable residential neighborhoods.  It offers some of the city’s best ohanami (お花見) viewing in the sakura season and is also close to the Studio Ghibli museum.

Recently, GaijinPot filmed long-time local resident, Mirei-san as she took us around some of her favorite places in Kichijoji, including Inokashira Park, Sun Road and more.

Kichijoji is an amazing place with a mixture of artistic atmosphere from the boutiques and craft stores and the modern department stores that define the Tokyo cityscape. Whichever you go for, the scenery of Kichijoji is quite unique inside Tokyo. Check it out.  More GaijinPot videos can be found here.
